What is Chiropractic?
Much more than you think!
The term Chiropractic comes from Greek words χειρο (chiro) meaning "hand" and πρακτικός (praktikos) meaning "practical" or "done by hand."
Chiropractic is a way of looking at the human body as a whole and is based on the idea that the human body has the ability to be self-sustaining and self-healing.
The human body is ruled by the brain, but the spinal cord and a vast network of nerves that carries its messages are just as important. When this system is not functioning at its peak, your body’s overall performance suffers.
Chiropractic doesn't use drugs to treat patients. While supplementation and nutrition are almost always a part of the bigger picture, drugs and prescriptions often work as band-aids to symptoms, suppressing and hiding them rather than treating the source of the problem. Chiropractic looks for the source of the problem and then naturally and non-invasively prompts the body to heal itself.
While it's often perceived that the chiropractor solely treats back and neck pain, pain is a symptom and a rather small piece of a larger picture.
